It’s a Broadway Summer!
Juneau Lyric Opera’s Mid-Summer Vocal Festival will be exploring the world of musical theater. Over the years, some of the greatest American music has come from the Broadway stage. And as America changed, Broadway re-imagined itself to reflect the world around it. And we’ll be singing some of that great music, from the classics of the Broadway stage to the cutting edge of today’s theater.
Classes will be held from 7-9:30 p.m. weekday evenings starting July 28th. First week rehearsals will be downtown at Holy Trinity Church and second week rehearsals will be in the choir room at Thunder Mountain High School. The performance will be at Thunder Mountain High School Auditorium Saturday, August 9th at 7:30 p.m. The registration fee is $100 and participants may register and pay the first night of class.
Returning guest artists will be Dr. Byron McGilvray and Janis Capelle. This is Dr. McGilvray’s 25th season of coming to Juneau to conduct choral workshops. Over the years he has given private lessons, taught sight singing, performance classes, conducting, music history and more to Juneau singers.
To register for classes in advance, please call 907-586-ARIA or e-mail the Juneau Lyric Opera Director at director (at) juneauopera.org.
