Juneau Lyric Opera is seeking donated art for it’s fall production of
Sondheim’s Putting It Together.
Putting it Together is a two-act music review showcasing the songs of Stephen Sondheim. The production premiered in Oxford, England in 1992. Diana Rigg, of The Avengers television fame, headlined the event. The incomparable, Julie Andrews, starred in the 1993 New York City Center production and the original RCA cast recording. In 1998, Carol Burnett stole the show during the Los Angeles premiere of the production. For performers unfamiliar with the work, a live performance of the L.A. production is available on DVD; clips can be found over the internet as well.
THE JLO PRODUCTION: Inspired by the opening of our new State Library, Archives and Museum building, for its upcoming fall production, Juneau Lyric Opera has elected to install an art exhibition of its very own, inside the JACC, to serve as the stage setting for the November 11-13 production of Putting It Together. Party! Well, actually, cast members are playing Art Patrons attending the gala opening of the exhibition. But, sure, art and Champagne make a great party mix!
The theme for our exhibit is LOVE. This is where we need your help. We are looking for artwork to become exhibits in the museum. The pieces should be 18×24, or 24×36 in size, very colorful and read well throughout a large room. In addition to single pieces, we have 2-3 areas in the museum where two companion pieces could be hung together. Contact the show’s producer (info below) if you have any questions.
JLO’s reward: We are asking that the pieces be donated to JLO. We will auction the pieces to the highest bidder to help fund the production.
Your reward: Two tickets to the VIP opening of the production on 11/10/16, LOTS of publicity and a tax deductible donation.
