On August 14, 16-17, JLO will present Mascagni’s one-act masterpiece, Cavalleria Rusticana, at the JACC. A short opera with a powder-keg of emotions and achingly beautiful melodies, this passionate drama reaches the extremes of human feeling and will keep you on the edge of your seat! A turn of the 20th century verismo opera at it finest, with songs so famous you may know them from Raging Bull or the Godfather Part III. Support provided by generous individual donors and grants from the JAHC and the CBJ.
With musical direction by William Todd Hunt, this semi-staged production features orchestra, chorus, JDT dancers, and the local voices of Sara Radke Brown, David Miller, Jose Rubio, Ariana Orford, and Wendy Byrnes. We’ll also welcome guest artist and acclaimed tenor, Alessio Borraggine as Turridu. Brian Bembridge (Don Giovanni and Into the Woods) returns as Stage and Lighting Designer, with Choreography by Juneau Dance Theatre’s Catherine Fowle. Produced by Kristen Miller and Sara Radke Brown.
