This summer, Juneau Lyric Opera’s Mid-Summer Vocal Festival returns to Broadway! You asked for a Broadway Mid-Summer, and we aim to please! Dr. Byron McGilvray and Janis Capelle will return to lead us in some of the great music from Broadway, film and television.
Who’s Your Diva?

Juneau’s hottest diva sing-off is back again to rock the stage. This year’s event will be pulling out Juneau’s talented singers to duke it out under the spotlight. Your dollars vote for the best attitude, voice, and glitter these singers can bring to the stage… wrapped up in a full-on glam evening.

A Partnership with the Orpheus Project to bring Opera in the Schools

In a new and exciting partnership with the Orpheus Project (formerly Opera-to-Go), JLO will be providing educational outreach support for the production of their commissioned opera, The Princess Sophia.
Fall Production: Here’s Looking at You, Casablanca
November 9-11, 16-18, Rockwell Ballroom
JLO and Gold Town Nickelodeon are pleased to present HERE’S LOOKING AT YOU, CASABLANCA, an immersive cabaret experience inspired by the iconic film. For two weekends this November, the Rockwell Ballroom will be transformed into Rick’s Café Américain, Morocco, 1941. All of your favorite songs and characters will be there, brought to life by a charismatic cast in period costume, interacting with guests while playing out some Casablanca-style scenarios. Each evening will culminate in a screening of the film.

Spring Production: Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana

In Mascagni’s one-act masterpiece, Cavalleria Rusticana, Turiddu has returned from military service to find his fiancée Lola married to another man, Alfio. In revenge, he has seduced a girl from the village, Santuzza, but the jealous Lola has since stolen him back, and she and Turiddu have an affair… This powder keg of passions ignites on Easter Sunday, as Santuzza, driven by despair and revenge, finally betrays Turiddu’s and Lola’s affair to Alfio – a terrible mistake, as it seals the fate of the man she worships.
A short opera with huge emotions and achingly beautiful melodies, this passionate drama reaches the extremes of human feeling and will keep you on the edge of your seat!
An Afternoon of Ave Marias

Juneau Lyric Opera is pleased to be partnering with the Seattle Art Song Society for a portion of the Aves program in a nationwide march of their commissioned song cycle entitled “One Voice”. The work, written by Julliana Hall with poetry by Margaret Widdemer, stands in solidarity and support of the brave women that manifest and march to have their voices heard in the US. We’ll offer two performances – 3pm and 5pm on Sunday, May 19, 2019. Watch for other possible pop-up performances in the downtown area!
