Diva competitors will perform two songs at the event, backed by Juneau band Susu and the Prophets and accompanist Rosie Humphery.
Introduced on stage when she was 7 months old, Callie is not new to being on stage! She has been singing her whole life and has been truly blessed to have grown up in a town with such a fabulous art presence. She recently performed in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland with Alaska’s King Island Christmas. When she is not singing, Callie can be found on the ski hill, at the university or running around town and enjoying life. Callie is ecstatic to sing as a DIVA and hopes you find the Diva sparkle that is inside of YOU!
Cameron, 21, is a lifelong Southeast Alaskan and cannot wait to shine onstage with her fellow divas (and trust us, shine is no metaphor: there WILL be sparkles…)! Wearing glamorous dresses, driving long stretches of road, and performing live are her top three aspirations, so the chance to strut onstage for an organization that puts music into peoples’ lives is phenomenal. Let her sweet and soulful sonnets coax you into cashing out with Juneau Lyric Opera!
Christina grew up in Juneau singing in school choirs from Harborview all the way through her senior year at JDHS. Performing has taken a back seat in the last few years due to spending her time on the organizational end of The Moisture Festival (a vaudeville/burlesque festival in Seattle) and the Seattle International Film Festival. Christina believes completely in the power of music, and the arts, and is very excited to participate in this wonderful fundraiser for an organization that helps keep this community vibrant. And she is thrilled to once again let loose her inner Diva!
Erin is a born & raised Juneau Diva who’s trading in Xtra-Tuffs for sexy high heels! Full Diva status didn’t happen until the tender age of 7 when she elected to have her tonsils removed to enhance her vocal abilities. She can be found rocking karaoke with her dad & friends, serenading her divalicious baby niece or bellowing songs into her hairbrush and blow dryer. Erin lives & breathes music & is honored to be a part of JLO’s Diva Production. She hopes you show your enjoyment of her performances by casting your votes for her!
From a young age, Hannah knew she would grow up to be an opera diva. Or a jazz diva. Or maybe a Broadway diva. Whatever it was going to be, diva was sure to be in her future. Thanks to the graciousness of JLO, her diva dream has finally been realized! Logging countless hours belting it out in various choirs, musicals, a handful of JLO productions, church, the car, and especially the shower, has hopefully readied her for this big night. SheÕd be honored if you showed JLO some love by voting for her!
Growing up, Leslie’s flair for the dramatic was natural as the wind scouring her small Wyoming town. She was always busy with dancing, cheerleading, playing piano, competing in talent shows, performing in plays, musicals, and parades. Now known as the “dancing queen” on the podium conducting the Juneau Pride Chorus; Leslie is also a piano teacher, and a member of a small ensemble called the Pitch Hitters. She appreciates the steadfast support she receives from her family and the Juneau community. She is thrilled to be among the 2013 divas. Support JLO! Vote for Leslie!
Lorie is excited and honored to be asked to sing in this years JLO Who’s Your Diva fund raiser. She hails from Washington, D.C. where she grew up singing in her Baptist Church choir on Sunday and singing along with the record player to Motown hits the rest of the week. More of an accidental Diva, Lorie has appreciated all the opportunities to sing offered by JLO. She hopes to win some votes, raise some money for JLO and have a lot of FUN!
Mary has been singing in Juneau for almost 25 years. She is excited to leap out of the chorus and share the solo mic with all her incredible “competition”. She is honored to help raise money for such a wonderful organization and thanks JLO for all the opportunities over the years to improve her singing. Vote with your dollars and keep the music going. “If you cannot teach me to fly. Teach me to sing” J.M. Barrie – Peter Pan.
Taylor couldn’t be more excited to be a part of Who’s Your Diva 2013. Singing next to these lovely ladies is a privilege and she’s sure it will make for a night of sensation singing and most importantly, an impressive fundraising competition. When not singing in the dish-pit of Paradise Cafe or the wonderland of the Shoefly shoe shelves, Taylor likes to create things and be with friends and family. With Who’s you Diva, she hopes that you will all be her friend and support her and JLO with your votes!
