Born and raised in Juneau, Alaska, Alyssa Fischer first sang for her piano teacher Mary DeSmet as a teenager. A few years later she met Tom Locher who introduced her to jazz and has now mentored her for almost 9 years. With an intro from jazz pianist Barney McClure, Alyssa headed off to college in Washington and studied jazz with Kirk Marcy, Frank Demiero, Dee Daniels, and Gretta Matassa.
Alyssa can be found playing jazz locally in Juneau at the Elk’s and Moose lodge, and loves to attend open mics, and community fundraisers and events such as JAMM, Who’s Your Div@, Juneau Cabaret’s American Songbook Series, Motown For Our Town, and the Gospel Choir.
Alyssa thanks everyone for making Juneau the vibrant arts town that it is and looks forward to seeing us come together for JLO!

Aria has lived in Juneau since she was ten. She has always loved music and performing. She would put in a cassette tape and dress up to perform for anyone or stuffed animal that would listen. Her family has been a great encouragement for her love of different styles and genres; dancing out to some rock with her dad or belting out some ballad from a stage show with her mom. She has been in several school and community choirs, and was in many stage productions playing a variety of characters. Her biggest roles include the Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods, and Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray. She is honored to be a part of this show, and hopes that everyone sees her love for music shine through.

Lydia is quite excited to perform in “Who’s Your Div@?” this year!
She attended her very 1st Folk Festival at two months old but didn’t really perform on stage until age eleven, singing with the Alaska Youth Choir. Since then, Lydia has expanded her vocal and musical performance experiences, participating in high school plays, jazz camps, gospel workshops, and Juneau Cabaret. She enjoys performing around town and building her confidence as a singer and performer, wherever she goes. While her Div@ personality may cause her to hit those high notes (almost too much), she enjoys giving her audiences, whether large or small, a big treat at the end of their long day. She firmly believes that a real Div@ is a person who performs for others, not just for herself.

Richard Carter is thrilled to be joining Juneau’s Div@s this year. He discovered his love for singing late in life and now finds himself singing all the time. You may have seen him on the Perseverance Theatre’s mainstage in a couple of musicals and plays over the years, or in the JDLT musical, Next to Normal. He loves all things geeky and he loves scary movies, so when he’s not singing, he is usually found with friends enjoying board games, videogames, or horror flicks.
