Come join Juneau Lyric Opera for a special Oktoberfest Beer Choir!
Prizes will be given for the most festive Oktoberfest apparel AND the most impressive yodelers!
Grab a Beer Choir “Hymnal”—the songbook that will guide the evening—and a pint and get ready to join in on traditional drinking songs, popular tunes, hymns, and choruses. You don’t need to love choral music, or even sing well, to enjoy Beer Choir—all you need to do is show up!

Black Rock, USA

We’re so pleased to invite our community into the artistic process for our workshop of Black Rock, USA, an original opera by Tripp J Crouse and Spencer Edgers.
Black Rock, USA is a full-length opera that explores themes of labor rights and queerness within the context of a fictional 1890s mining town. Penelope and her community navigate the coal mine by day and the saloon/brothel by night, asking the question “What if we had a world guided by love, rationality, and equality?”
Made possible by a Juneau Community Foundation Arts Vibrancy Award and now a collaboration with Juneau Lyric Opera, Orpheus Project, and the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council, Black Rock, U.S.A. is scheduled to be workshopped October 19-25 at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center, culminating in a pay-as-you-can public concert performance on Sunday, October 25th.
The work features a 25-person orchestra, 16-person chorus, 5-person cast, 3-person saloon “house band”, and a small production crew, totaling over 50 working artists from Juneau and Southeast Alaska.
Admission is pay-as-you-can, but seating is limited!

Abendlied

November 21, 2026

Join us at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, November 21 & 22, for a rapturous evening of German art song, or as we call it, “Lieder.” Featuring Juneau’s most beloved classical voices, (and a couple new ones!), get ready for a celebration of the works of Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, Franz Schubert, Richard Strauss, and Hugo Wolf.
